Grand Valley State Univ. REINSTALLS Blasphemous, Anti-Catholic ‘Art’

Sign your protest today because Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Michigan is displaying a blasphemous mural against the Mother of God. The work, titled “Petalos De Cambio” (Petals of Change), features manipulated images of Our Lady of Guadalupe overlaid with pro-LGBT phrases, rainbow flags, and immoral imagery.

Created by student Irlanda Beltran and awarded by GVSU’s graphic design department, the mural includes phrases like “Homophobia is lethal.” The face of the Blessed Virgin is defaced with the statements, “My son is homosexual” and “I am proud of him.” One panel even shows her face crossed out with an “X” and a gun pointed at her.

Catholics on campus and across the state are asking why the university would support, reward, and display this attack on the Mother of God. GVSU purchased the mural and praised it for raising awareness about “gender-based violence, mental health, gun control, and homophobia.”

Earlier this year, after growing protest, the university “relocated” the mural from public display. However, it has since been reinstalled within the provost's office, a move that foments blasphemy and anti-Catholicism.

Blasphemy is not education. Join the peaceful protest and defend the purity of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Let Grand Valley State University hear your bold yet polite voice.
