America Mobilizes to Hold 1,067 Rallies Defending Traditional Marriage
From the chilly Michigan lakes along the Canadian border down to the dry and sunny Texas ranch towns along the Gulf of America -- and more than 1,000 places in between – Catholics stood strong in defense of God’s marriage as one man and one woman. People endured all types of weather to bravely pray in public spaces to affirm the beauty and sanctity of traditional marriage while rejecting harmful and immoral modern redefinitions, most notably same-sex “marriage.”
The rallies, which were organized by America Needs Fatima, were motivated by God’s instructions regarding marriage which can be found in the book of Genesis when God took Eve from Adam’s rib: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Gen 2:24).
Additionally, the rallies honored the sanctity of marriage as stated in the book of Hebrews: “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral” (13:4).
Each of the 1,067 public rallies was a unique effort to stand for traditional marriage. Edwin K., from Charleston, Ark., said “Our rosary rally was very spiritually rewarding for all participants. The rally was conducted at the courthouse front lawn. We had several inquiries from the public including one from the county magistrate. I want to grow our community rallies over time and have learned a great deal being the rally captain. Foremost, serving Our Lord and Heavenly Mother is the utmost importance!”

In Somers Point, N.J., Patricia H. led a rally in the same public park where they have been hosting rallies for 13 years (three times each year)!
Rally captain Philip C. from Santa Clara, Calif., held a rally at a busy intersection between two large shopping malls with a high volume of pedestrian and car traffic. He reported that the group received favorable reactions from most people, including several men who said they really believe in what they were doing. “Everyone at the rally considered it a privilege to be there to honor Saint Joseph and God's marriage between one man and one woman,” Philip said. “We also made reparation for the multitude of sins of so-called same-sex “marriage" and abortion.”

Over in Hailey, Idaho, rally captain Blanca F. thanked America Needs Fatima for inviting her to do this rosary rally. “It was very meaningful to do this for God Our Lord, through the Blessed Virgin Mary,” she said.
Historically, public rosary rallies have caught the interest of non-Catholics and even atheists as well as firm believers. This is an important part of the purpose of visibly praying in public. Mauricia L. from Riverside, Calif., reported that two non-Catholics joined their group and that “people who passed by honked their horns to show that they supported us.”
Rallies are also a wonderful way for different parishes to come together to proclaim their shared faith. In Marietta, Ga., rally captain Maria M. brought together parishioners from St. Thomas the Apostle in Smyrna and St. Joseph in Marietta to pray outside Planned Parenthood.

“We prayed for traditional marriage and the unborn,” said Denis M. from Ocala, Fla. “We had our regular monthly rosary rally group with great weather and good public response. We will be back next month!”

“Marriage is of God, and should be cherished as timeless, unchanging and inherently beautiful,” said Robert Ritchie, director of America Needs Fatima. “Despite the secular attacks on traditional marriage, we know it is the foundation of both the family and society and should never be twisted into whatever fits the disordered passions of the day. We are profoundly thankful for the many Americans who stood up for the protection of God’s marriage as one man and one woman.”
A grave reminder of the vital importance of defending marriage came from Sister Lucia dos Santos, one of the three seers of Fatima. In a letter written just before her death in 2005, she stated that the final battle between Our Lord and the kingdom of Satan will be about marriage and the family. “Don't be afraid,” she wrote. “Whoever works for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be fought against and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue.”
America Needs Fatima announced the next monthly rosary rally dates will be on April 9 or April 12 to pray for the protection of our children from porn and LGBTQ books in libraries and schools. Please click here to join this effort as a rosary rally captain in your community.
“Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.” (Matthew 19:6).
