Praying for the Police: More than 1,200 Rosary Rallies Held in Thanks

In a public display of honor and respect, Americans across the country organized 1,242 rosary rallies this weekend to pray for and thank the police for all they do. Organized through America Needs Fatima, these rallies were held at police stations, courthouses, and other busy, public locations visible to those serving in law enforcement. Each rally was held under a banner of Saint Michael the Archangel, who fought for God against Satan. The archangel is honored as the patron saint of police officers.

In America today, the police protect communities against countless forms of evil, including assaults, fraud, robberies, larceny thefts, human trafficking and homicide. They make millions of arrests each year, bringing the hand of justice to those who harm others, break laws and cause disorder. More than 24,000 officers have fallen in the line of duty over the past 100 years, giving their lives for the common good.

The police face constant negative publicity from those who misrepresent them and their actions. The media choose to focus on high-profile cases to judge all the police. Thus, some activists call for reducing, defunding and eliminate police departments. Sadly, this false portrayal has only led to increases in crime and lawlessness. Over the past few years, polls reveal historically low levels of confidence in the police. Fortunately, that is changing now, as a recent Gallup poll shows confidence is up more than eight percent.

Testimonials from Rally Captains

Some of the 1,242 rally captains shared reports on their experiences praying publicly for the police:

“This year our attendance jumped up to approximately 40 including some young grandchildren,” said Patricia M., rally captain from Corpus Christi. “The Knights of Columbus are very supportive in attendance and advertising. We all love our law enforcement and this gives us an opportunity to show our appreciation for their 24/7 sacrifice for us. We definitely plan to make this an annual event.”

“We were honored to join other prayer warriors across the country in praying in unison for our country and our brave police officers and all who serve to protect us during these confusing and dangerous times,” said Rebecca D. from Springfield, Illinois. “We prayed on West Washington Street where we are very visible to passing traffic. It was unusual and noticeable that some passing cars actually slowed down so that they could read the message. It is such an honor and blessing to serve Our Lord in this manner, and to answer Our Mother's call as she asks us to pray the rosary for our country and all mankind. We plan on being out there in public each month to remind people of the love Our Savior has for each of us and to remember that Our Mother Mary is always pointing us to His Mercy, Grace and Salvation.”

“We held our holy rosary rally for all police personnel, so that St. Michael the Archangel protects them in their work,” said Susanna G., a rally captain from Dade City, Fla.

“This year’s rally was very moving especially because we prayed it in dual languages,” said Angela M. from Riverside, Calif. “We had a beautiful turnout where even some nice ladies joined in for a while because of the location. So blessed to be a part of such a beautiful mission for Our Lady.”

“Like Saint Michael the Archangel, our police are the guardians of peace, the first line of defense against evil on earth,” said Robert E. Ritchie, executive director of America Needs Fatima. “Our rally captains bravely and publicly stood up for our police by holding these rosary rallies over the weekend. Many police officers and supporters joined them in a combined plea to God through Saint Michael for their protection. It was a beautiful sight to see.”
