1,006 Rosary Rallies Part of America's 250th Celebrations

More than 1,000 public rosary rallies were held across America as part of the nation’s historic 250th anniversary celebrations. The tens of thousands who attended these rallies on July 11 gathered to pray for America’s conversion and “for peace in the world” just as Our Lady asked the shepherd children at the Cova da Iria near Fatima in 1917. These rallies were organized by America Needs Fatima (ANF). They were a most beautiful gift for the nation’s birthday!

Catholics need to celebrate and honor the role Catholics play in shaping America. Prayer, penance and active apostolate are essential elements of this effort. Indeed, Catholics have an obligation to put into practice the Divine Commission to “go forth and teach all nations” (Matt. 28:19).

Archbishop John Hughes, who headed the Archdiocese of New York City from 1842 until 1864, clearly stated this mandate: “The goal of the Catholic Church is to convert all pagan nations and protestant nations. There is no secrecy in this; it is the commission of God to His one true Church. Everyone should know that we have for our mission to convert the world, including the inhabitants of the United States; the people of the cities, the peoples of the country, the officers of the Navy and the Marines, the commanders of the Army, the Legislature, the Senate, the Cabinet, the President and all.”

“These 1,006 rosary rallies for America were a crucial part of the 250th anniversary celebrations taking place across our nation this month,” said Robert E. Ritchie, director of ANF. “They lifted us in prayer and reminded us of God’s many blessings to America, without which nothing else would have been possible. While we enjoyed the beauty of the monumental fireworks that celebrated the good aspects of our history and culture, the rosary rallies were the most valuable, praying for the conversion of our country and for many more years of God’s blessings.”

“I was pleased with how the Rosary Rally went and the amount of people that came. It was so beautiful to see and hear a lot of people praying for our great country, America,” said Anna, a rally captain from Kenosha, Wis. “God blessed us with beautiful weather too! We received a lot of thumbs up and positive honks. We followed the prayer program that was in the Rosary Rally Captain's Manual, and everyone was really enthused and thankful about the rosary rally. Afterwards, the attendees were already asking me to lead another rosary rally soon, which I plan to do.”

“We had several new people praying with us. One family from out of town wants to start a rosary rally in their small town,” said rally captain Rita from Lubbock, Texas. “Another lady just happened to be walking on the street near us. We asked if she was there to pray with us, and she said yes. As it turned out, she was from out of town and had driven to the wrong location to meet her family. But she loves to pray and was sure it was God’s intention for her to pray with us. (Praise God!) She said the experience of praying with us was very uplifting, even though she had never prayed a rosary before! God is so good!”

“We are prayer warriors from the Rio Grande Valley on the tip of South Texas, in over 100-degree weather, praying for our country and our 250th anniversary, for ‘One Nation Under God,’” said Silvia, rally captain from Edinburg, Texas. “We wore custom-made shirts for this occasion for we know we live in such a great country, which God has blessed for 250 years.”

“We stood outside one of the main public libraries in Naples and offered our Blessed Mother the 50 roses of the rosary, thanking her for her love and protection, for world peace, and for this nation, the U.S., as it celebrates its 250th anniversary,” said Zulay, a rally captain from Cape Coral, Fla.

“This was our first rally, and we were thankful to the 10 people who attended,” said Jennifer, a rally captain from Newcomerstown, Ohio. “It was a beautiful day! While we prayed the Presentation of our Lord in the Temple mystery, a family with small children and baby walked by. It was noticed by all of us.”
